From a children's publisher, for Muslim authors and everyone telling the stories children need. I'm Sajeda Faraz, a children's publisher. This toolkit brings together what I've learned on the publisher's side of the desk: how picture books are made, who decides, and how they really sell. Everything works for any picture book, so every author is welcome.

What's in the toolkit

  • The Picture Book Launch Kit (47 pages): ten chapters on who really buys picture books, positioning, your product page, pricing, a 90-day pre-launch plan, launch week, schools, bookshops and libraries, social media and keeping sales going.
  • 18 fill-in templates: Positioning Canvas · Metadata Checklist · Pricing & Profit Calculator · Advance Information Sheet · Early Reader Invitation · Bookstagrammer Outreach · Bookshop Pitch · School Visit Pitch & Menu · Parent Letter & Order Form · Press Release · Launch Week Checklist · 90-Day Calendar · 30 Post Ideas · Event Checklist · Sales Tracker · Outreach Tracker · Amazon Ads Card · Day 30/60/90 Review
  • Guide 01, Inside Children's Publishing: every stage from manuscript to shelf, who touches your book and what they need from you, traditional vs independent vs self-publishing, contracts in plain English, how to spot a vanity press, a submission-ready checklist and a glossary.
  • Guide 02, The Opportunities Directory 2026–27: prizes, mentoring, funding and publishers for children's writers and illustrators, especially Muslim creators and creators of colour, checked November 2026, with a tracker and year planner.

Format: two instant PDF downloads (the Launch Kit and the 17-page guides book). Print the templates or fill them in on screen, and reuse them for every book.

Want ongoing support?

The toolkit is everything you need to get started. When you want live feedback, accountability and real opportunities, I run a £47-a-month membership and a small Academy cohort, ending in a Pitch Day, through the Little Hibba Academy.

FAQ

Is it only for Muslim authors or Islamic books? No. Everything works for any picture book, and every author is welcome.

My book is already out. Is it too late? No. Start with positioning, then go straight to schools, bookshops and the opportunities directory.

Is this for traditionally published authors too? Yes. The industry guide, the schools, events and bookshop chapters, and the directory apply to any children's author.

Do I need a big following? No. The toolkit focuses on channels that work without one: schools, events, bookshops, libraries, prizes and targeted outreach.
